The funny things people that love us do

My hubby can be sooo funny sometimes.

For years he's been hounding me about my weight and bring home newspaper articles about different diets or weight loss surgeries.   Most have been for 'quick fix' pills that I'm unwilling to try and the surgery....that's not even an option to me.

When I first started getting really strict with my diet he was sceptical.   After a few months he said he could notice a difference but said I still had a long way to go.

Recently he's has not bugged my about losing weight and has stopped bring home diet info.  What he has started doing is bring home newspaper articles about people having heart attacks and strokes and dieing while exercising.

Yesterday before going to the store to pick up a few things I told him I was going to pick up a heart monitor to wear while working out.  He asked why and I told him if he's worried I'm going to kill myself working out the best way to keep that from happening is to just monitor how high my heart rate gets and then if it starts going to a danger level I can just decrease the level of the workout.  He didn't say anything for a bit then, "What makes you think I am worried about that?"
I told him from the change in the articles he brings home.  He just said, "Ok, whatever you think is best."  Then he went back to watching his TV show.

I know from knowing him over the past 20 years that means he's very happy that I listened to him without him having to ever actually say what was bugging him.   I'm getting better at reading what he is trying to say.  It's takes a lot of work but the peace it keeps around here is well worth the time it takes to try.

I know he loves me...he never says it much (and then it's only when I pretty much force him to say those three simple words)... instead he shows it with some of his actions.  :0)

I'll get the heart monitor set up and use it when I workout this evening and whenever we are going on a brisk walk.  I know it's can't hurt having it on and I might be able to use it to get in an even better burn by knowing right where my heart rate is during my workouts.  Everyone has a fat burning rate....if you go higher it's most likely will burn muscle and lower gives you toning but not as much of a burn.

I also picked up some different wrist weights while out yesterday.  I can't try them yet as my right wrist is still really really sore from sleeping on it with the weights on the other day.  I think the bruising has caused things to swell up a bit in there as my thumb is bugging in the way that feels more like a nerve with pressure on it than anything else.   when I was talking to my mom she pointed out that will all the sports related injuries and surgeries and physical therapy resulting from broken bones, dislocations, back and neck problems, torn muscle and ligament, bruised bones, etc...  that I most likely am going to be able to tell the difference in the types of pain on myself and that she doesn't recommend getting an xray at this time.  It feels more like a bruised bone, muscle, and pressure on the ligaments.  the only thing that will heal that is time and giving my wrist a rest.  I have been watching myself and not doing the things that have been making it yell at me.  i have changed up my workouts to not include the things that was causing an increase the pain.  And I've even been careful about picking up my son with my right arm.  I really think in 4 to 7 days it will be much better and I can go back to normal activate with my arm.  I am left handed so it's good for me that it's the right wrist hurt.  it was a reallllllll bummer when I hurt my left elbow and had to do everything with my right arm till the cast was removed.

That's all for now.  Keep up the great work everyone!!!!

  1. Well, you are figuring your husband's ways out - that is worth a lot lol. I have been married 7 years now, so I thought by this point I'd have a clue. Nope, no clue. LOL. I hope you enjoy the heart rate monitor! It should be interesting to see how hard you are working at different activities!

  2. Well, it is good that you and Don are improving your communication, but--getting a heart monitor is a bit like Gram saying heart problems run in the family because her 90-years plus brother started having heart-failure. However, if it makes him happy, that is good and improves calm and peace at home

  3. I needed another band strapped to me just about as much as i needed a hole in my head....LOL

But really....even though I don't care for the additional chest band I did like getting through the day without being told of anyone killing over while working out :)

Brenda....just another 13 years and you will start figuring him out ;) It's not easy trying to understand what someone needs or wants when they will not just come out and tell you. Use to drive me crazy and still does sometimes. I'm like....just say what's on your mind and save me a LOT of time :)
