Today my raw food diet has a really yummy sounding smoothie for breakfast. But it says that you are NOT to eat breakfast today until you are hungry. It says you need to get back in touch with your body and start eating when you are hungry and not just because it's time to eat.
Sounds great....I'm gonna try that.
Last night while falling asleep my tummy grumbled and I said to me..."I am so eating a ton of vegs for breakfast. if I'm hungry now I know I'm gonna wake up starved."
I was sooo wrong! I woke up feeling great but not hungry. I had a bit of a headache that is now totally gone. But I'm still not hungry. No tummy grumble, no food cravings, nothing! I have been drinking water waiting to get hungry so I can have my smoothie. It's after noon and still no hungry. I have a ton of energy and have been getting a LOT of housework done while waiting to get hungry....but still not hungry. I haven't felt this great in a very long time! My stomach doesn't have any pain....no heavy feeling, I feel light and ready to take head on any problem that comes my way. It's a really great feeling! But I worry that what if I have forgotten how to feel hungry? Then I remember I went to sleep last night feeling hungry and I knew the feeling then so I couldn't have forgotten how to feel hungry overnight.
I don't know what is going on inside my body but I will keep a watch for that feeling of hungry so I can get on to the next part of my diet. Until then I am going to keep enjoying this extra boost of energy I have and use it to get things done around here and play with the kids outside between school subjects. :)
for my diabetic friends....I gave my doc a call and she said that this diet is ok for a diabetic and will most likely help to level out your blood sugar but to change up the diet just a bit. She said no fasting the first day and that you will need to eat something every 2 hours while awake. And keep a close eye on your blood sugar levels. She said she has seen several of her diabetic patents do very well with raw food diets but a few did have to add a extra protein to keep the blood sugar levels stable. she also said that movement is really key to help keep blood sugars level during a raw food diet. She also reminded me that I really am on the line between being diabetic and prediabetic and if I had asked her before fasting she would have told me to skip that part but to follow the rest of the diet. yesterday when I saw her I was within an hour of ending my fast so she didn't bring it up. So does waiting to feel hungry count as a fast? or is it just waiting to be hungry?
My kiddos are calling me so I'm off to use more of this new found energy and to keep waiting on that feeling of being hungry.
