Hello :) It's been almost a year since Biggest loser changed this web site and I was there.
WOW has it changed a lot!
I miss the blogs and the cool home pages. I'm sure once I get use to the new format I will love it. :)
I have 111 pounds to lose to get to my goal weight. my weight has been going up and down and up and down over the past years. Spent all kinds of time to sick to really get anything done.
Turned out I have mixed sleep apnea. which means when I go into REM sleep my brain forgets to do things like breath (central sleep apnea). mix that with being over weight and the the obstructive sleep apnea and according to the sleep study I was not breathing 52% of the time I was sleeping. :( No wonder I felt bad all the time! My body was starving for air!
When your body goes without air that much (the way my doctor explained it to me) your internal organs cells start dying. normally your body can heal during the day but apperantly because I was sooooo sleepy all the time and having a really really hard time staying awake I was not able to heal so each day I was just getting sicker.
Now I have a super cool BiPap machine that monitors my breathing and adjusts to what I need at that moment. :) Current with my sleep therapy I am getting air all but 3% of the time that I am sleeping. According to the doctors anything under 5% is considered successful therapy. :) Yeah for sleep breathing machines!
Now that we have found the root of most all my health issues I am working on getting healthy. I was recently told I have diabetes, and my blood pressure has gone from pretty good to not good at all. It's all a result of my body just getting sooooo sick hen it was not getting enough air.
I know I have a long road ahead of me, but I feel like I am soooo much closer to getting to my goal now than I was a year ago. Even though I weighed less last year I feel like I'm better than last year. Now I know what is wrong and why I was falling apart. I just have to get my weight under control and get back to healthy.
Over the past 12 days I have dropped from 250 to 240 :)
How did I do it? Following a new meal plan (21 Day Fix) and doing Tai Cheng.
I have gout, diabetes, high blood pressure, high LDL with low HDL, Mixed Sleep apnea, neuropathy, tons of food allergies, chronic plantar fasciitis, brain lesions, ouches and hurts all over just to name a few of the things I have going on.
But, even with all that I have managed to drop 10 pounds. :) I am eating 6-7 small meals spaced 1-2 hours apart. Because the meals are spaced so close together I am never hungry and my blood sugar has finally become stable again. :) I'm still taking my diabetic med. I'm looking forward to when I am able to stop taking them. :)
How is everyone else doing? Any of the people still here from last year? Anyone reached their goal weight?
I'm looking forward to reconnecting with old friends and making new friends as we support each other on our paths to better health.
Mary :-)
