I finished my 4 week biggest loser challenge today and have been trying to decide if I wanted to change up to a different program or go for another 4 weeks.
In the past 4 weeks I have lost a total of 4 pounds. :)
Since January I have gone from a pants size of 24 to 18 and a shirt size of a tight 2xl to being able to wear xl tshirts that aren't tight around my belly
I've lost a whole inch from my neck :)
I'm thinking at this point I will keep doing the biggest loser workout as it is working even though it's not overnight. Wouldn't that be nice?!....workout out once and everything is back in place! :)
I am going to do a few small changes and as soon as my energy level is back to normal I'll be adding back in more cardo workouts. For now I'm going to try and get in at least 3 cardo workouts per week. Yesterday when I tried it ended up wiping me out for the rest of the day. But this morning I felt better knowing I had pushed through and gotten it in as well as our walk.
my stats for yesterday

Calories Burned - 3280

I'm tired today but it's getting better each day. Our daily walks really make me feel better.
Today I have not worked out other than our walk and doing the final challenge on the biggest loser.
So far I'm gotten in a bit over 11,000 steps for the day.
My daughter and I have started doing the Mind and Body Connection game on the Kinect. It's a lot of fun and it really does work out your brain with all the math and logical problems you are asked to do. My three year old loves doing the logic and memory games. It's become something fun the 3 of us can do and I like that it helps my daughter work on her math skills while she is having fun. I like that it makes me think :)
I'm adding it in as part of my 'official' daily workout.
I've noticed that since I've been losing a lot of fat off the back of my arms the skin isn't toning up as fast as the fat is going so I have developed those nice wings on the back of my arms. The only way (other than having it cut off) to get rid of the wings is to tone tone tone. I've decided to start wearing 1 pound weights on my wrists during the day and do triceps exercises throughout the day. It will help the back of my arms to tone and firm up quicker. At my age (41) there really isn't any reason why I can't get the back of my arms toned...it just might take a lot of work...but in the end I won't feel like I'm about to flap away when the wind blows :)
So for the next 4 weeks my workout plan is
1- biggest loser on the kinect (working out on the light level currently) 6 days a week 30 minutes/day
2-Mind and Brain Connection (10 minutes when I'm playing by myself and longer when the kids are playing with me)
3- Walk every day getting in at least 10,000 steps per day
4-do a light cardo 3 days a week and work up to doing cardo 6 days a week again
5- Yoga after each biggest loser workout...either with the program or just on my own...the stretching really helps to make me feel better and I'm not as sore the day after a workout when I end it with yoga.
6- wear 1 pound wrist weight during the day (but not while cooking...can't handle the thought of raw meat getting on them by mistake)
7- find time each day to spend 10 minutes just relaxing....thinking about how I can improve my life and keeping notes of the ideas I come up with then implementing those ideas
Since I have had to lower my workout level from hard to light I have noticed a few things....
First I don't get the Vigorous Activity that I was getting in at the hard level
Second- I am not having to modify the workouts while going along i can keep up with the trainers.
3rd- the program isn't getting onto me for not keeping up it's giving me positive reinforcement and telling me how great I'm doing and to keep up the good work (this is good for me...I like hearing the tv say "just like that! you are doing it like a pro! rather than 'I know you can do better!, Get your leg higher!, you need to dip lower, or my least fav-'don't quite on me now poodle!" --don't know why they put the poodle thing in the program but I realllllly don't like it when the tv calls me a poodle! :)
4th - When I workout at the lower level I'm not feeling like my head is going to blow up from the blood pumping so hard. I am able to keep up and get the right form and still sweat buckets without getting my heart rate so high I feel like I could explode. I'm guessing that it's not really good to get your heart rate that high a lot anyway...but I might be wrong.
5th- Since I'm able to get in the correct form while doing the exercises I'm noticing my muscles are reacting to the workouts quicker and I can actually feel my stomach, leg, arm, behind, and back muscles working
I'm thinking it is better to take it slow and get it right rather than trying to go faster and not being able to keep the correct form. If you are doing an exercises and you can't keep the pace so you are only half doing the correct form you are only working out half of the muscles you are intended to workout....you are going to end up with less benefits.
So here's to the start of a new 4 weeks and reaching our goals!
We CAN do it!
If you have a DREAM, THINK about what it will take to get your DREAM, and then DO IT! You CAN have EVERYTHING you DREAM when you are WILLING to put in the WORK to make your DREAMS COME TRUE.
Mary - first off your success is AWESOME!!! 4 lbs in 4 weeks? Perfect!! Even more important though, you are working WITH your body instead of against it, listening to it. That seems to be the key in this journey!! I only do the light biggest loser workouts still, even then Bob says "c'mon my overweight lova" and I wanna slap him. :) But I'd rather go slow and steady with good form and be able to keep going then hard core and burn out quickly.
ReplyDeleteI also have to say AWESOME job at finishing the challenge!!!
Good job mom!
ReplyDeleteThanks guys! It's becoming an amazing journy. I'm looking forward to the next part.
